Description
Senior Project Manager
The candidate will lead an application development team charged with creating and implementing new releases of a web-based system every six months. Responsibilities include developing work breakdown structures, detailed project schedules, estimates, resource plans, and status reports. The candidate must have 5+ years of experience managing medium to large scale complex projects with an established record of delivering systems on time and within budget.
The project team size will likely be 10-15 resources consisting of a project manager, a technical lead, systems analysts, Java developers, a data architect, and a part time application architect. The project manager will direct the technical staff yet that staff will report to their resource manager.
Responsibilities include:
- Directing technical staff in a Matrix organization.
- Creation of a complex project schedule with tasks based on specified methodology.
- Daily monitoring and updating of the project plan using MS Project.
- Coordinating testing with test group manager and deployments with CM team.
- Management of risks, issues and scope change control.
- Creation of project variance and exception reports using MS Project/MS Server.
- Weekly reporting to upper management.
- Participation in the creation and delivery of PMBOK artifacts.
Qualifications:
- Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
- Must have 5+ years experience leading development teams delivering medium to complex projects on time and on budget.
- Must have 5+ years experience managing OO project development efforts from inception through implementation.
- Must be resourceful and creative in identifying ways to mitigate issues and risks to avoid project delays.
- A thorough understanding of the Unified Process.
- Familiar with JEE technologies.
- A background check will occur upon acceptance of the position.
- Experience working with geographically dispersed clients a plus.
- PMP Certification or equivalent certification is desired.
