One of the few projects come to mind was when I worked at Warung Pintar, where in our retail delivery setup, I took charge of a project to make our vehicle routes more efficient for multiple delivery points. The challenge was to balance our limited fleet's capacity with minimizing travel distances—a common puzzle in logistics.
To improve the inefficiencies of the manual routing process, I proposed a data-driven approach using the Constraint Vehicle Routing Problem (CVRP) algorithm and Binary Tree Clustering. This promised to be scalable, more consistent, and significantly reduce processing time.
I started by researching historical data, extracting relevant information from Google BigQuery, and analyzing it with Python. This data laid the groundwork for developing the CVRP algorithm and Binary Tree Clustering, which I implemented in a Python script.
The outcome was a game-changer — a 50% reduction in overall travel distance for order deliveries. Beyond the numbers, this initiative signifies a commitment to operational excellence and data-driven decision-making.
