Computer ScienceAbout me
I’m a hands-on backend tech lead with 10+ years of experience designing and delivering secure, scalable, and resilient platforms for fintech and enterprise companies. I currently lead backend development for iDEAL 2.0, the Netherlands’ largest online payment platform, processing 100+ tps.

? How I work:
• Building applications: I write clean, reusable code, review peers’ work, and refactor where needed using design patterns.
• End-to-end system ownership: I take responsibility for services from requirements to production—covering development, testing, release, and operations. I define and implement metrics, logs, dashboards, alerts, and documentation.
• Incident management: I address and resolve production issues within SLA, reduce customer impact, and strengthen long-term reliability through root cause analysis and permanent fixes.
• Systems design: I evaluate architectural options and integration approaches across team-owned components, balancing business needs, performance, scalability, and timelines.
• Quality & improvement: I constantly look for process and system enhancements—designing and implementing practices that improve efficiency, resilience, and business performance.
• Communication & collaboration: I document designs and investigations clearly, adapt my message to the audience, and facilitate decisions by practising active listening and constructive debate.
? Technical strengths:
API design & security (OpenAPI, versioning, security best practices) • REST & Kafka integrations (synchronous + asynchronous) • Observability (Prometheus, Elastic: metrics, logs, dashboards, alerts) • Resilience patterns (retries, circuit breakers, graceful degradation, fallbacks) • Java, Spring Boot, AWS • Kubernetes, Docker • CI/CD pipelines, automated testing (unit, integration, performance, end-to-end)

Project history
I am working on the iDEAL 2.0 project, the leading payment solution in the Netherlands, processing over 1.6 billion transactions annually.
Highlights:
- Led end-to-end delivery of functionalities, from requirement analysis through development, testing, and release to production, ensuring smooth go-to-market, robust monitoring, and incident management post-release.
- Led technical and architecture decisions in and across teams, most notably “iDEAL email verification” and “the add the second bank to an iDEAL profile”
- Acted as a point of contact for technical guidance, troubleshooting, and architectural decisions, such as resolving critical production issues, clarifying architectural choices, and ensuring communication with other teams.
- Drove key technical improvements such as Kafka to MSK migration, certificate management improvements, iDEAL alerts and monitoring by coordinating closely with architects and the Product Owner.
Skills: System Design, Team Leadership, Mentorship, Teamwork, Certificate management, System Observability,
Highlights:
- Enhanced sprint goal consistency through Test-Driven Development (TDD) and pair programming utilising Coding Kata.
- Designed and developed microservices as part of the iDEAL 2.0 solution, with a focus on user registration functionality.
- Designed and developed REST API gateways for issuers and acquirers connections, capable of processing more than 500 API calls per second.
- Additional roles: SRE Deputy role, Security Champion
Skills: Java, Kotlin, Spring Boot, WebFlux, OpenAPI, REST, Docker, K8S, Kafka, MongoDB, GitlabCI, System Design, Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic, AWS(S3, PinPoint, MSK)
I worked on an airline transaction processing solution (BSP), improved the service's flexibility to accommodate acquirer-specific fields and expanded connections to multiple payment platforms and transaction file providers
Highlights:
- Developed configurable microservices to support new IATA CSP file providers.
- Expanded payment capabilities to include multiple local card types in addition to VISA and Mastercard.
- Implemented support for 3D Secure 2.0 data.
- Introduced coding katas to the team, which enhanced pair programming and team collaboration.
