SL Rasch GmbH is a Germany-based contractor with in-house engineering and design teams, specializing in lightweight, wide-span, and convertible building structures, with a particular focus on movable roofs, large-scale shading systems, complex façades, and climate-responsive architecture. Founded in Stuttgart and led today by Mustafa Rasch, the company continues a multi-generation legacy rooted in research-driven design and engineering excellence.
We operate at the intersection of architecture, structural engineering, mechanical systems, digital simulation, and construction delivery, translating ambitious architectural visions into buildable, reliable, and long-term performative systems. Our work is characterized by technically complex interfaces, bespoke components, and projects that require rigorous coordination across disciplines.
SL Rasch delivers projects globally, with a strong and long-standing presence in the Middle East, particularly the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Our portfolio includes internationally recognized landmark projects such as large-scale mosque shading systems, convertible roof structures, special lightweight buildings, and high-density public-space solutions. Many of our projects operate under extreme climatic, structural, and operational constraints and are executed for government clients and major developers.
Our in-house capabilities span the full project lifecycle:
- Concept and technical design (architecture, structure, mechanics)
- Advanced digital methods, including BIM, form-finding, CFD, wind engineering, and crowd simulations
- Detailed engineering and system development
- Project management, procurement support, and quality control
- Construction and site supervision, supported by local teams
We work with highly specialized, experienced freelancers to complement our internal teams in architecture, structural and mechanical engineering, façade engineering, digital design, simulations, and technical project management. Freelancers typically work on complex work packages, interface coordination, detailed design, validation, and specialist analysis, often within multidisciplinary and international project teams.
SL Rasch offers a professional, technically rigorous working environment, clear scopes, and exposure to projects that are exceptional in scale, complexity, and visibility. We value precision, reliability, and engineering depth, and we collaborate with freelancers as trusted technical partners rather than short-term capacity fillers.
If you are experienced in complex building systems, lightweight structures, façades, or advanced engineering workflows—and are interested in contributing to challenging international projects—we look forward to working with you.
Role purpose
Set up, run, and post-process advanced simulation models to support crowd and infrastructure decision-making, producing clear technical outputs for project deliverables.
Key responsibilities
- Build and configure simulation models (particle-based and/or finite volume method as applicable).
- Prepare geometry/inputs, boundary conditions, and scenarios; validate model setup.
- Run simulations and manage compute workflows in a Linux/Unix environment.
- Post-process results (e.g., ParaView) and generate figures, animations, and quantitative outputs.
- Document assumptions, methods, and results; contribute to technical reports and client-ready materials.
- Support troubleshooting, version control of models, and data handover to project teams.
Required skills & experience
- Proven experience in particle-based simulations and/or CFD/FVM workflows.
- Strong ParaView post-processing capability.
- Comfortable working in Linux/Unix (shell, remote compute, file management).
- Fortran, Phyton, …
- Good technical writing and reporting.
Nice to have
- Experience with mobility/crowd simulations.
- Familiarity with QA/QC of simulation models and reproducible workflows.
- Arabic language/background (for local context, coordination, and interpretation of stakeholder inputs).
Typical professional education
- BSc / MSc in: Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computational Engineering, Computational Mechanics. or similar.
- Preferred: MSc/PhD with focus on CFD, numerical methods, multiphase/particle simulations, HPC.
Typical additional training/certs (optional)
- HPC / Linux administration basics (short courses)
- ParaView / VTK post-processing training
- Vendor/tool training relevant to the project simulation stack
