EPR Project Manager - (Electronic Patient Record)

Based in Truro, Cornwall

Contract duration: 3 - 6 months

Day rate: Up to £158.11 VIA Umbrella

The post-holder will use their skills, experience and subject matter expertise to implement, deliver and review projects after implementation against stated benefits.

Project Delivery

  • Initiate projects as directed by the Senior Project Manager, Programme Manager, and assess them for feasibility

  • Responsible for identifying, analysing and documenting the project requirements.

  • Responsible for the production of the specification and design/modification of information systems, including overseeing development work.

  • Undertake impact analyses to feed into service changes required after project delivery.

  • Identify, in conjunction with customers, the benefits to be realised by meeting the project requirements and the key success factors to be used to measure the project.

  • Manage a number of concurrent projects and/or act as stage manager for larger projects, as assigned by the Senior Project Manager or Programme Manager, across all customer areas across different disciplines, ensuring effective and regular communication at all levels with all interested parties

  • Define quality standards and coordinate and take part in system and hardware testing of the delivered system; this will also be required for system upgrades.

  • Initiate and manage background research, development and testing phases of each project, as part of the technical options appraisal process, in order to recommend the optimum solution.

  • As required, in conjunction with the IT practice educators or training team, train customers in the use of the new systems and provide training material.

  • Identify technical and intellectual issues that are raised as part of the project.


  • Proven successful structured project management skills/experience, including experience in managing change and leadership of project teams.

  • Significant relevant experience in health service or other major large-scale customer service oriented organisation

  • Proven experience in organising and prioritising multiple tasks and workloads and meeting deadlines

  • Able to understand and create project budgets and where appropriate manage project expenditure


  • Educated to degree level or equivalent professional qualification and with a specialist IMT/business management qualification, formal project management qualification.

  • Demonstrable knowledge in the use of a Specialist Project Management methodology. Ideally PRINCE 2, which is the Industry and Government best practice methodology, which supports the project manager in project planning and organisation and in structuring the entire activity of the project and its resources to ensure the successful delivery of the end solution.

  • Knowledge of current legislation affecting managing, using and storing information such as Confidentiality, Freedom of Information, Data Protection Act and Caldicott

  • Effective user of MS/Office document production applications including Word-Processing, Presentation, Spreadsheet and Email
