This position requires the fulfilment of at least 6 of 7 of the listed requirements:
  1. At least 2 years of proven experience in the design, customization, extension, and maintenance of Backstage
  2. Demonstrated experience in the development and customization of Backstage plugins, including both frontend and backend plugins
  3. At least 4 years of experience in developing backend services using Node.js, preferably in the context of platform or integration solutions
  4. At least 3 years of experience in developing frontend applications using React
  5. At least 1 year of experience in the design and implementation of CI/CD pipelines, preferably using Azure DevOps
  6. Proven experience with Docker and Kubernetes, particularly in the operation and deployment of platform services
  7. Experience with Azure or comparable cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, GCP), especially in the context of cloud?native applications and platform services
The perfect candidate for this position shall support the client in the analysis, design, extension, and operation of its existing Backstage platform.

The service consists of the following tasks:

Technical Concept and Architecture Design
  1. Development of technical concepts for the extension and adaptation of the existing Elia Group Backstage platform
  2. Design of scalable, high?performance, and maintainable solutions in compliance with Elia Group IT, architecture, security, and compliance standards
  3. Analysis and consideration of security requirements, operating models, and target architectures
  4. Formulation of technical recommendations and decision?support documentation for future platform extensions and strategic evolution
Architecture and Platform Analysis
  1. Comprehensive analysis of the EGAF and Backstage architecture
  2. Assessment of existing technologies, interfaces, plugin structures, and integration mechanisms
  3. Elicitation of project?specific and domain?specific requirements from organizational, functional, and technical perspectives
  4. Consolidation and presentation of analysis results to support architecture and design decisions within the project
Backstage Plugin Design and Development
  1. Design, development, testing, and documentation of custom Backstage plugins (frontend and backend)
  2. Implementation of defined technical and business workflows and use cases
  3. Integration of plugins with internal systems, services, and end?to?end process chains of the Elia Group
  4. Preparation of clear and traceable technical documentation (e.g. API designs, interface flows, configuration parameters)
Platform Extension and Customization
  1. Implementation of adaptations and extensions to the Backstage platform
  2. Enhancement of frontend and backend components to support organizational structures, role models, and business processes
  3. Ensuring compliance with functional and non?functional requirements, including performance, stability, security, and maintainability
  4. Design and implementation of technical improvements based on project outcomes and stakeholder requirements
Backend Services and Integrations
  1. Extension and configuration of the Backstage backend to support additional services and integrations
  2. Integration of internal tools, APIs, CI/CD pipelines, identity management, and asset systems
  3. Configuration and documentation of interfaces, authentication, and authorization mechanisms
  4. Technical advisory services regarding integration patterns, security architectures, and operating models
Technical Documentation and Knowledge Transfer
  1. Creation and maintenance of comprehensive technical documentation, including:
  2. Architecture overviews
  3. Technical design specifications
  4. Plugin and API documentation
  5. Documentation of workflows, interfaces, integrations, and configuration decisions
  6. Ensuring transparency for operations, further development, and effective knowledge transfer within the project context
