FPGA Design Engineer - Contract (Outside IR35)

We're supporting a specialist engineering organisation delivering advanced safety-critical systems across regulated industries. They're looking for an experienced FPGA Design Engineer to join on a contract basis (outside IR35), contributing to a key phase of a high-reliability hardware programme.

This is an opportunity to apply your FPGA expertise on Real Time, Embedded systems that demand precision, integrity, and certification-ready design.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Full life cycle FPGA development using VHDL - from architecture and coding through to simulation and testbench creation
  • Work to stringent quality and traceability standards, including DO-254 compliance
  • Close collaboration with hardware, software, and systems engineers to integrate FPGA designs into wider platforms
  • Documentation and technical reporting to meet project milestones and certification needs

Essential Skills:

  • Strong hands-on experience with FPGA development in VHDL
  • Previous work on safety-critical or high-reliability systems
  • DO-254 experience - ideally delivering DAL B or C designs
  • Familiarity with verification methodologies and simulation tools (eg ModelSim, Vivado, etc.)
  • Able to work autonomously in a multi-disciplinary team

Contract Details:

  • Outside IR35
  • Initial 6-month engagement with likely extension
  • Hybrid working - 2 Days Per Week Onsite
