Project Description:
For a challenging project in a scientific and regulated environment, we are looking for an experienced freelancer in Laboratory IT / Lab Compute Solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Advise scientific departments and business stakeholders on all topics related to planning, procurement, deployment, operation, and use of laboratory IT systems and lab equipment
- Support the selection, implementation, management, and maintenance of IT systems in the laboratory environment
- Conduct and moderate coordination with manufacturers and suppliers of laboratory instruments and related software
- Coordinate with internal and external technology partners to define a stable, scalable architecture
- Ensure smooth integration of lab systems while considering data storage, regulatory requirements, compliance, and IT security
- Translate business and scientific requirements into technical concepts and support their implementation throughout the project lifecycle
- Identify suitable IT solutions, assess technical feasibility, and provide well-founded recommendations
- Technically coordinate activities such as routine maintenance, incident and problem escalations, asset and inventory management, and rollouts
- Collaborate closely with Business Relationship Managers and Solution Architects to continuously optimize processes and IT solutions in the laboratory environment
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with lab stakeholders and partners from other technology units
- Actively collaborate with internal customers to collect feedback aimed at continuously improving service quality and user satisfaction
- Provide post-implementation support and ensure stable operations
Requirements:
- Solid IT knowledge in the laboratory environment (e.g., lab instrument integration, lab systems, data acquisition, data analysis)
- Experience working with scientific departments
- Knowledge of regulated environments (e.g., compliance, security, validation is an advantage)
- Structured, independent, and solution-oriented work approach
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Very good German and English skills
Start: March / April 2026
Duration: Full calendar year after start
Workload: 100% (1 FTE)
Location: Oxford, UK
Remote: 20% remote, 80% on-site (Initial onboarding fully on-site 100%)
Daily/Hourly Rate: TBD
Work authorization for the UK required:
Non-UK citizens require a Skilled Worker Visa with a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS). UK citizens only need citizenship.
