We are seeking a Linux and network security engineer to resolve file upload issues with Perplexity.ai on RHEL 9 servers operating under strict egress-control using iptables with default DROP policy. While standard browsing works, file uploads fail due to blocked Cloudfare-backed upload endpoints.
Main Tasks:
• Perform controlled outbound traffic analysis during Perplexity.ai upload workflows
• Identify all required domains, IP addresses, and CIDR ranges for uploads
• Design and implement minimal, auditable outbound firewall ruleset enabling uploads without relaxing overall egress restrictions
• Implement Perplexity-compatible command-line prototype operating from terminal with file upload support
• Create deterministic validation tool for firewall behavior testing
Project Timeline: Short-term engagement of approximately 2 days
Expected Results:
• Both browser-based and CLI-based uploads functioning reliably
• Maintained tightly restricted outbound security posture
• Secure, well-documented prototype suitable for long-term maintenance in enterprise environment
• Complete documentation of required network access patterns
Requirements:
• Any expertise in Linux and network security
• Experience with RHEL 9 and iptables configuration
• Knowledge of egress-control models and firewall security
• Ability to perform network traffic analysis
• Experience with Cloudfare infrastructure and API integration
