Job Title: Manufacturing/Maintenance Technician
Location: Portsmouth, Onsite
Rate: £18-£23 per hour
Contract Length: 3 months rolling (PAYE)
Start Date: ASAP

The Role
As a Manufacturing Technician, you will be supporting, maintaining, and improving the production equipment to maximise manufacturing availability.
Your other daily duties will include but will not be limited to:
- Sustain production equipment to achieve a target up time of at least 95% availability.
- Swiftly identify the underlying causes of equipment failures and execute necessary repairs.
- Oversee an established Planned Maintenance system, adhering to a predetermined schedule, recognising potential operator tasks to uphold process uptime, and optimise capacity.
- Manage the Planned Maintenance system and calibrate production ATE systems.
- Handle the servicing and repair of gas regulators.
- Guarantee the availability of adequate spares for a prompt response to component failures.
- Specify and execute enhancements to the production process or equipment, aiming for cost, productivity, or quality improvements.
- Complete necessary risk assessments for processes, equipment, and ergonomics.
- Ensure the timely completion of HSE actions.
- Draft technical documents outlining procedures, encompassing cell maintenance instructions, and defining TPM schedules.
- Collaborate with external partners/vendors on technical aspects of production equipment and spares.
- Create or detail essential jigs and fixtures.
About You
- A minimum of three years' experience in a medium to high volume production environment is mandatory.
- Practical experience demonstrating a hands-on and methodical approach to mechanical and electrical fault diagnosis/analysis, utilising diagnostic tools/equipment.
- Effective communication skills with internal customers and external suppliers, encompassing both technical matters and general levels.
- Proven working knowledge of assembly automation, including the ability to diagnose pneumatic system logic.
- Previous experience in the installation/testing, and fault finding of electrical systems.
- Experience with PLC programming and control system interrogation would be advantageous.
- A diverse range of qualifications may be considered; however, a robust Engineering background is envisioned, preferably supported by a recognised Mechanical or Electrical apprenticeship. Possession of an ONC/HNC in an Engineering discipline would be advantageous.
- Electrical installation Qualification to a minimum of 17th Edition
- Proficiency in Literacy and Numeracy.
- Computer literacy is essential, with experience using MS Office.
