Darwin Recruitment are currently hiring for a Mechanical & Test Engineer in Paris on behalf of a business that was founded in 2022, currently has 10 employees looking to expand across 2024. The business has developed a universal satellite port enabling mechanical, electrical, data and power coupling between nearly any experiment on any spacecraft. Putting your payload in orbit, nothing more so and learn how to deploy and operate your hardware in orbit with this company and discover how they can support your vision with accessible, responsive and sustainable space missions. Payload hosting is the process of hosting experiments onboard shared satellites. Historically, it has been used by government agencies to deploy orbital capabilities for simpler, quicker and cost-effective missions. This company has developed and modernized this approach, opening it to all users in order to democratise access to orbit. They provide hosting onboard shared satellites owned by the business or a partner vehicle such as transfer vehicles, constellations, space stations or geostationary satellites where they secure secondary hosting opportunities.

Your Mission

In this position, you will work with the CTO to:

* Design and develop mechanical parts and assemblies.

* Conduct simulations to test parts and assemblies in different environments.

* Create and test prototypes to ensure functionality and performance.

* Collaborate with manufacturers to ensure high-quality production of final parts.

* Communicate with clients to facilitate seamless integration of parts and assemblies.

* Finalize designs and prepare them for manufacturing.

* Procure necessary parts and oversee the assembly of the final product.

* Integrate mechanical systems with customers' requirements and plan for final integration into the satellite.

Upcoming Projects: As they prepare for their next missions, you will be expected to:

* Finalize designs and initiate the manufacturing process.

* Assemble the final product and ensure its readiness for integration.

* Perform the final environmental tests.

* Work closely with customers to integrate components into the satellite and plan for successful deployment.

Your Profile

* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

* 3-5 Years proven experience in mechanical design and prototyping either professional or in university teams.

* Experience in CAD software (preferably SolidWorks) and design for manufacturing

* Experience in simulation software and tools (Nastran).

* Experience with environmental testing (Random Vibrations, Thermal etc.)

* Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

* Experience in the aerospace industry is a plus.

* Familiarity with ECSS is a plus

* You like practical, hands-on projects, and show autonomy. The startup world is a bit messy sometimes, and we'll need your help on unexpected topics to keep up with the swirl of things going on.
