Description

My customer is currently looking for an Exchange Engineer lead based near Atlanta that requires hands-on experience with Microsoft Exchange (including on-premises environments) and Office 365. The role is to be completed mainly remote but will sometimes require some onsite presence in Atlanta

Description and Location

The candidate must demonstrate deep technical troubleshooting skills and align with the high technical standards set by the previous team leader including extensive Powershell Scripting for automation and experience with Microsoft 365, Exchange and hybrid Exchange environment.

Key Responsibilities and Requirements

Exchange Server Patching Strategy

Understanding of cumulative updates (CUs) and security updates (SUs).

Experience with patching in high-availability environments (eg, DAG).

Familiarity with zero-downtime patching techniques and rollback plans.

Microsoft Exchange On-Premises Management

Hands-on experience managing Microsoft Exchange Server on-premises.

Proficiency in configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Exchange infrastructure.

Experience with mailbox migrations, hybrid configurations, and DAG management in on-prem environments.

Office 365 Licensing Preferences

Knowledge of Microsoft 365 license types (E1, E3, E5, Business Premium, etc.).

Experience with group-based licensing and automation.

Ability to optimize license usage and cost.

Technical Troubleshooting Skills

Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues in Exchange and Office 365 environments.

Experience with resolving issues related to patching, database management, and DAG configurations.

High Technical Standards

The candidate must align with the high technical standards set by the previous team lead.

Ability to handle complex scenarios with confidence and expertise.

Certifications: - Microsoft Certified: Exchange Server - CompTIA Security+Enhancement

Considerations:

1. Broader Infrastructure Integration: Experience integrating Exchange with Active Directory, DNS, and hybrid cloud environments. Familiarity with compliance standards such as DISA STIG or ITIL is a plus.

2. Security and Monitoring: Knowledge of email security protocols and experience with monitoring tools for proactive issue detection and resolution.

3. Project and Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to lead Exchange migrations or upgrades, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and document technical procedures for knowledge sharing.

4. KPIs and Performance Metrics: Success in this role will be measured by system uptime, patch compliance, license cost optimization, and incident resolution time.
