Operations Manager (SEO)
Smartsourcing are recruiting an Operations Manager, Hybrid role 3-9 months - Inside IR35. Rate TBC
Public services background would be beneficial.
The successful candidate will support the smooth and effective running of i.AI, focussing on finance management and operational support. This will mean working closely and collaboratively with corporate and governance functions including finance, commercial, HR, digital and so on.
Experience of operating in complex and rapidly changing environments with a range of diverse stakeholders.
Experience managing high profile programs and/or events in central government (No10, CO, HMT, GDS) with a range of senior stakeholders would be valuable.
A key aspect of the role is leading on managing the team's finances, including tracking spend and comparing it against our budget and forecast to ensure we're on track, maintaining robust records and fostering transparency. The successful candidate will also build strong collaborative relationships with our team's Finance and HR Business Partners, leveraging them to help unblock issues.
You will also support the team's day-to-day operations, managing and improving processes, as well as recruitment and onboarding of new members of the team. As a growing team moving into a new department, there will be plenty of opportunity to lean in to other workstreams and get involved with shaping our ways of working and culture.
We are a team of specialists who also get involved in other areas that are not our specialism (we value T-shaped people).
Key responsibilities will include:
- Ensure the smooth and efficient running of i.AI.
- Managing all aspects of the team's budget. You will review and reconcile monthly financial reports, raise purchase orders, calculate accruals and provide an overview of spend vs. forecast. You will maintain a close relationship with the Finance Business partner ensuring forecasting is accurate and on track.
- Providing input to financial returns and commissions, for example Business Planning or Spending Review.
- Working on commercial processes and engagement with central digital functions to ensure the team has the equipment and services to do our jobs effectively.
- Managing shared team inboxes, responding to queries and helping to ensure a high quality service.
- Demonstrable experience of financial/budget management. You can balance cost versus value, report on financial delivery, monitor cost and budget and understand how and when to escalate issues.
- Operational delivery. You have a track record in managing multiple, competing priorities whilst maintaining delivery.
