Job Title: Payroll & Pensions Officer (Temporary)
Salary: £15.81 - £17.56 per hour (£30,505 - £33,882 annually)

Location: Bristol
Our client, a well-established organisation in the public sector, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Payroll & Pensions Officer to join their team on a temporary basis. As the Payroll & Pensions Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the seamless delivery of payroll and pensions services, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and providing exceptional support to staff and customers.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Deputy Payroll and Pensions Manager in providing effective and efficient payroll and pensions services.
- Analyse pension statements, ensuring accurate and sufficient contributions for future benefit payments.
- Resolve payroll and pension issues, following existing policies and regulations to find optimal solutions.
- Maintain a strong knowledge of regulatory requirements to ensure compliance with payroll and pension transactions.
- Provide accurate payment processing and administration, including complex payments.
- Manage employee records, organising documentation associated with payroll adjustments.
- Generate ad hoc reports and communicate changes to relevant parties.
- Contribute to projects and manage small-scale projects within the payroll and pension processes.
- Develop and deliver briefings, training, and presentations as required.
- Act as an advocate for equality, diversity, and inclusion, promoting an inclusive culture.
- Ensure health and safety policies are followed and champion a safe working environment.
Additional responsibilities specific to the role:
- Provide pension information and support to staff.
- Handle pensions administration, including starters, leavers, and changes.
- Process flexible retirement, phased retirement, and ill-health retirement pensions.
- Manage additional contributions, such as AVCs and faster accrual.
- Respond promptly to payroll and pension-related queries.
- Provide payroll advice and support to staff and customers.
- Handle allowances, deductions, and employee data changes within the payroll system.
- Process various payments, including Associate Lecturer and Occasional Associate Lecturer payments.
- Monitor absence sickness and process sickness pay.
- Manage payroll for maternity, paternity, adoption pay, and shared parental leave.
- Present the payroll information at the Welcome Fair.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in payroll and pensions administration.
- Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and policies.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Organised and efficient in managing workload and meeting deadlines.
- Proficient in using payroll and pension systems.
- High level of IT literacy, including Microsoft Office applications.
