Short Project Description
For our international client in banking industry, we are looking for an experienced Solution Architect to support the Digital Euro Pilot initiative, focusing on Core Banking Systems (CBS) integration, payment architectures, Digital Euro/CBDC acceptance and transaction flows, and group-wide integration across multi-country banking landscape.
Your Responsibilities
- Define the target architecture for the Digital Euro Pilot together with the enterprise architecture team
- Assess architecture options for local vs. central implementation
- Design integration patterns between Digital Euro components and Core Banking Systems
- Define interfaces to payment platforms, settlement systems, liquidity management, and customer channels
- Support group-wide integration approaches and multi-country deployment models
- Evaluate Digital Euro vendors, platforms, and implementation partners; support build-vs-buy decisions
- Facilitate architecture workshops with business and technical stakeholders
- Identify architecture risks, dependencies, and design gaps
- Prepare architecture recommendations and management-ready summaries for project sponsors and SteerCo
- Support go/no-go decisions on pilot participation and implementation scenarios

Your Profile
- Extensive experience as Solution Architect or Enterprise Architect in banking/financial services
- Hands-on experience with Core Banking Systems (Temenos, SAP Banking, Finacle, Avaloq, Hogan or similar)
- Strong understanding of payment architectures and processing ecosystems
- Experience designing large-scale integration architectures in complex banking environments
- Solid grasp of API-first architectures, microservices, event-driven integration, and cloud-native solutions
- Experience with regulatory and compliance requirements in banking
- Comfortable communicating with both technical and executive stakeholders
- Experience in international, multi-entity organizations
Domain Expertise
- SEPA, Instant Payments, Cards, Open Banking, Request-to-Pay
- ISO 20022 payment standards (pain, pacs, camt)
- SWIFT MT/MX messaging and cross-border payments
- TARGET Services (T2/TARGET2, TIPS), settlement, liquidity management, reconciliation
- Core Banking integration and payment hubs (highly preferred)
- Real-time payment systems and high-volume transaction processing
- CBDC/Digital Euro project experience (highly preferred)
- Understanding of ECB Digital Euro architecture concepts and digital wallets (strong advantage)

- Able to challenge and influence stakeholders constructively
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills
- Self-driven, comfortable working independently
- Fluent English required; German and/or CEE languages a plus
Framework Details
- Start: ASAP
- Duration: September 2026, extendable
- Workload: 4 Days/Week
- Location: Vienna / Remote (approx. 70% remote, 30% on-site)
- Mandatory on-site presence on defined team days as well as specific presentation appointments
- Contract type: Time & Material
