Stress Engineer (Contract)

Location: Yeovil, Somerset

6-12 month contract, inside IR35

A leading aerospace organisation is looking for a Stress Engineer (Contract) to join their busy team working on a new large scale project based in Yeovil.

Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for stress, vibration, and heat transfer analyses. Responsibilities include providing technical expertise on a variety of projects and programs. You will use your expert knowledge of engineering discipline and standards, processes and tools to ensure compliance to customer and program requirements. Other responsibilities include communicating with Project engineering teams, conduction of design reviews, presentations to internal and external customers and contributing to department process improvement initiatives.

What will you be doing?

  • Perform stress analysis using complex finite element & classical book calculation methods, & support testing
  • Perform heat transfer analysis in practice and theory (analytical correlations and complex finite element methods) and related topics in thermodynamics, single and multi-phase flows, and energy systems.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers.

Experience/Skills required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or closely related field with emphasis in heat transfer or thermal sciences & stress analysis.
  • Proficiency in linear static, nonlinear/elasto-plastic, fatigue (HCF & LCF), modal, shock, harmonic, random vibration, & crack growth analyses.
  • Strong working knowledge of ANSYS finite element software & classical hand calculation methods.
  • Team Player and ability to mentor others.
  • Significant experience with new product development in a highly regulated environment
  • Ability to analyse and solve complex and challenging problems.
  • Effectively operate in a Matrix organization.
  • Track record of successful contribution to products & projects.
  • Keen mindset to envision process improvements and execution of such initiatives.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
