Venesky-Brown's client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit a User Researcher for an initial 9 month contract with potential to extend on a rate of £500/day (Outside of IR35). This role will be hybrid working - with avg one day per week in the office.Responsibilities:
- Planning and executing desk, field and lab based user research according to business and project needs.
- Manage relationships and communicate with stakeholders at all levels - influencing, questioning and coaching them.
- Advise colleagues on choice and application of appropriate user research methods and tools to assure best practice and ensure that research findings are robust, actionable and suited to the overall aims and objectives of the project.
- Facilitate the inclusion of different types of users in appropriate research activities.
- Advocate for accessibility, assisted digital, and inclusive design practices and helps teams design and deliver accessible services that work for all users.
- Support teams to continually improve their understanding of and engagement with users.
- Provide actionable insights to support design decision making.
- Champion and advocate for user research and engage sceptical colleagues and stakeholders.
- Undertakes development and or assurance of ethics and consent processes and supports the development of privacy and equalities impact assessments.
- Participate in and/or support programme and project assurance activities.
- Contribute to DDaT community such as by participating in events and reviewing processes, tools and guidance.
Essential Skills:
- Experience in a digital research setting, designing and delivering a wide range of inclusive user-centred design research including defining research briefs, leading research activity, and delivering actionable insights.
- Demonstrates the ability to choose and apply appropriate user-centred design research methods (from data gathering to synthesis and analysis) for different design life cycle phases and situations.
- Ability to communicate research approaches and insights effectively in such a way as to stimulate conversation and collaboration.
- Knowledge of other user centred design practices and experience of collaborating with them for service delivery.
- Ability to adapt to changes in course while maintaining motivation and productivity.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with leadership and project(s) stakeholders.
- Ability to plan, organize and keep up with project deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Ability to prepare and present outputs and concepts to varied audiences
- Ability and aptitude to transfer knowledge and share experience with wider project team
