Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced USU SAM Tool Administration Specialist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate would oversee the management and optimization of our Software Asset Management (SAM) tools. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the effective use of USU/Aspera SAM tools to manage software licenses, optimize costs, and maintain compliance across the organization.
Responsibilities:
• Tool Management: Oversee the daily operations of USU SAM tools, ensuring they are configured and maintained to meet the organization's needs.
• Perform backend operations as superuser/power user functions, run cron jobs, update catalogs, update clearing positions for license activation, review inventory normalization, run admin tools for checks, error tracing, manage customizations, manage configurations for security, system, A Model & Dashboards
• Monitor & update master data covering all USU modules, manage ICP Config
• License Management: Manage software licenses, including tracking usage, ensuring compliance, and optimizing license allocation to reduce costs.
• Compliance calibration & execution using license models, metrics & units of measurement between entitlements & normalized inventory
• Run Rayventory discovery scans & bulk upload discovered raw data into LIMA
• Data Analysis: Analyze software usage data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
• Reporting: Generate and present regular reports on software asset management metrics, including compliance status, cost savings, and tool performance.
• Process Improvement: Develop and implement processes and best practices for software asset management, ensuring continuous improvement and alignment with industry standards.
• Collaboration: Work closely with IT, procurement, and other departments to ensure effective software asset management and compliance.
• Training: Provide training and support to staff on the use of USU SAM tools and software asset management best practices.
Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in using USU SAM tools, including SmartTrack & RayVentory
• Strong understanding of software licensing models and compliance requirements.
• Experience with data analysis and reporting tools such as Excel, Power BI,
• Familiarity with IT service management (ITSM) tools like ServiceNow.
• Knowledge of cloud services and SaaS management, Database management systems and SQL administration clients, Operating systems administration (modern Linux distributions), Web browser, Text editor
Requirements:
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in software asset management, with at least 3 years of experience managing USU/Aspera SAM tool
• Strong understanding of ITIL framework and best practices.
• Proven experience in software asset management, including license compliance, optimization, and audits.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• USU tool certification preferred.
