Job Summary:
As a warehouse procurement specialist, you will be responsible for sourcing and procuring goods and supplies required for warehouse operations. You will manage inventory levels, negotiate with suppliers, monitor purchasing trends, and ensure timely delivery of materials to support operational needs. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain cost-effective procurement practices.

Responsibilities:


  • Procurement and Sourcing:

    • Identify and source suppliers for warehouse goods, equipment, and supplies
    • Evaluate supplier proposals and negotiate terms, prices, and contracts.
    • Place purchase orders and ensure timely delivery of goods to meet warehouse and operational requirements.

  • Inventory Management:

    • Monitor inventory levels and maintain optimal stock levels to support warehouse operations.
    • Conduct regular inventory analysis and forecasting to anticipate demand and prevent stockouts. 
    • Coordinate with warehouse and logistics teams to ensure efficient inventory flow and storage.

  • Supplier Relationship Management:

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors.
    • Resolve any issues or discrepancies related to deliveries, quality, or pricing.
    • Continuously evaluate supplier performance and implement improvements as needed.

  • Cost Management:

    • Implement cost-effective procurement strategies to optimize spending and reduce expenses.
    • Analyze pricing trends and market conditions to identify cost-saving opportunities.
    • Monitor and control procurement budgets and expenditures.

  • Process Improvement:

    • Streamline procurement processes and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy.
    • Implement best practices in procurement and inventory management.
    • Recommend and implement technological solutions to enhance procurement operations.

  • Compliance and Documentation:

    • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
    • Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier agreements.
    • Prepare reports and analytics on procurement activities, costs, and performance metrics.

  • Team Leadership:

    • Supervise warehouse staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating performance. 
    • Foster a positive and productive work environment, encouraging teamwork and collaboration.
    • Provide coaching and development opportunities to enhance team skills and capabilities.

  • Operational Management:

    • Oversee daily warehouse operations, including onsite material deliveries to techs and installers, receiving, storage, order picking, packing, and shipping.
    • Develop and implement efficient operational procedures to optimize workflow and minimize costs.
    • Monitor and analyze warehouse performance metrics to ensure targets are met or exceeded.

  • Equipment and Facility Management:

    • Oversee the maintenance and repair of warehouse equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and conveyor systems.
    • Coordinate facility maintenance and repairs to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
    • Evaluate and recommend warehouse layout improvements to maximize space utilization and operational efficiency.


Qualifications:


  • Proven experience as a procurement specialist, buyer, or similar role, preferably within a warehouse or logistics environment.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and ERP (enterprise resource planning) systems.

Work Environment:

The warehouse procurement specialist typically works in an office environment within a warehouse or distribution center. 
The role may involve occasional visits to suppliers or warehouse facilities. Depending on the organization, the specialist may need to work flexible hours to accommodate operational needs.
