I attended the Allen & Overy 'Open Day' and 'Insight Workshop' at Linklaters last December. During these experiences, I attended various presentations held by graduate recruitment, spoke with senior associates at the firms and participated in a workshop on negotiation skills. I also shadowed a number of trainee solicitors and carried out work such as proof reading a sale and purchase agreement and summarising an arbitration judgement. Through these placements I gained an insight into the life of a commercial lawyer at magic circle law firms, the sort of work this entails and the working culture of each firm.
