Skills
Hi, I’m Elias, a full-stack developer who started coding with AmigaBASIC at a very young age. Since then, working with code and truly understanding technical workflows has become a constant part of my life.
I got my first IT job in 2004, and since 2007 I have been providing freelance support wherever proper hands-on work force is in need.
Besides building for the web and apps, I really enjoy creating immersive experiences using Unreal Engine 4/5.
My programming language portfolio ranges from PHP and JavaScript in web/app/mobile contexts to C++/C# in game engine contexts.
In the recent past, most of my work for agencies and other customers was related to the Magento ecosystem. I still manage some Magento instances for a few long-term customers, so I know this system inside out and can do almost everything with it — from neat reactive frontend modules to complex enterprise resource planning interfaces.
After seeing a few JavaScript frameworks come and go over the years, Meteor, in combination with a SolidJS frontend, has become my all-time favourite so far. But I can quickly adapt to any frontend framework required for a project.
Of course, I know how to produce valid and clean HTML and CSS, both with and without using CSS preprocessors. User interface (UI) / CSS frameworks that I know very well are Tailwind CSS, Material-UI, Semantic UI and Bootstrap 3/4/5. I love to work with a styled components approach.
I also created build and deployment systems for Magento using Webpack, gulp, Capistrano, Ansible and various other tools.
The latest addition to my skillset is building Web3 applications, developing smart contracts and managing the technical aspects of cryptocurrency projects. I have successfully launched my own high yield farming project on the Binance smart chain. The Web3 frontend for the token is built with React (Next.js) and Tailwind CSS, the smart contract uses Solidity and was deployed using Remix.
My current focus in the Web3 realm is the eco-friendly Chia Blockchain, since I don’t see a future for secure distributed databases like conventional blockchains that have a wasteful approach when it comes to energy efficiency.
I personally think that I shine the most when involved in a project that needs me to combine different parts of my skillset. That’s why I love Game Development so much.
Even though I haven’t done any official jobs in that domain yet, I have been doing a variety of projects with Unreal Engine and virtual reality for about three years now; it is one of my favourite areas in the world of development. I consider myself a 3D generalist as I also really like modelling, optimising, rigging and animating characters and other 3D models as well as creating photorealistic game-optimised environments and landscapes. Of course, I use industry-standard AAA tools and pipelines for this process (UE4/UE5, Blender, Character Creator, Marmoset Toolbag, Gaea, Quixel Mixer and Bridge).
I am familiar with working in teams of all sizes along the scale. Whether according to Scrum or Kanban, it doesn't matter - no problem at all.
So, if you are in need of capabilities like mine, I'd be delighted to get down to business with you and your team.
