Fixed line & Transmission managerWe are currently recruiting for our client, a Global Telecommunications Organisation for Fixed line & Transmission manager to join their project in Uganda.
Position Title: Fixed line & Transmission manager
Position Type: Contract
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: 6 months rolling

Fixed Line & Transmission manager's purpose it to operate and maintain the NGN Fixed Line Switch and services platform, operate and maintain the Transmission network (DWDM, SDH, MW and IP), operate and maintain the IP network (ATN, CX, WiMAX, WiFi) and management of 10+ technical engineers.
Responsibilities:
- Operation and maintenance of the fixed data services network
- Operation and maintenance of the NGN customer (PRI/BRA/IMS)
- Operation and maintenance of Transmission fault eg Fibre Break.
- Operation and maintenance of the WIMAX/IP Access network including management of sites using AlvariSTAR NMS, and management of Ethernet access nodes
- Work with the client planning section to achieve robust transmission network.
- Work closely with the NOCC to identify the transmission fault on the network
- Do routine on the network for Health check as proactive maintenance
- Should be available when needed to resolve an emergency fault.
- Must work closely with other internal sections and client to resolve any fault that have occurred on the network.
- Managing TDM/E1 and Ethernet transmission resources
- Attend to incident and Work order assigned to them with the SLA set by the client
Qualifications/Professional experiences Required:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Telecommunications engineering.
- At least 5 years’ experience in a reputable telecommunications company (Switching, IP transmission & Access Networks)
- Should have strong knowledge of Ericsson, Huawei and ZTE equipment.
- Must possess a valid driving permit.
- Should be able to work long hours, holidays and weekends
- Good communication skills and ability to work with minimum supervision.
