Commercial Manager - 5 month contract - Immediate Start

We are recruiting for one of the nation's largest commercial companies who provide an extensive range of construction services including construction management, general contracting, design and build and preconstruction.

The role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an established Commercial Manager to join our team in Southampton on a 5 month contract. As the successful candidate you will provide commercial lead/support to the contract teams and input to highway infrastructure and street-scene during the delivery phase. You will hold detailed contract knowledge and analytical appraisal, risk analysis, mitigation appraisal & costing and production of commercial reports experience.

The principal aim will be to ensure capture of full entitlement and value and deliver a complete change management process in particular to recognise and negotiate settlement of compensation events.

This diverse role includes working closely with client representatives, commercial, finance and contract delivery teams, particularly in relation to:

  • Staff retention & Development
  • Sub-Contracts negotiation & management
  • Commercial issues arising in connection with variations, property matters, planning & environment
  • Risk Management
  • Document Control and process management

Key Requirements

  • managing commercial staff on a day-to-day basis
  • demonstrable experience of making a material contribution to improving the returns on contracts
  • good highway and contract knowledge and practical application
  • practical experience of assisting with delivering proposed solutions
  • production of commercial, financial and management reports
  • project management and Risk management expertise to control business risks
  • establish working relationship with Client's commercial department
  • ad-hoc duties as required across the Infrastructure project by management

You

  • experienced in preparation, submission, reconciliation of applications for payment through to cash collection
  • good knowledge of various forms of term contract ie NEC Term Service Contract, ICE
  • commercial negotiation of change management experience
  • sub-contract negotiation and supply chain management
  • flexibility, initiative, computer literacy, and attention to detail are prerequisites
  • good knowledge of the highways maintenance sector
  • Degree qualified in a commercial subject
  • analysis and problem solving skills
  • good Interpersonal skills
  • be self-motivated
  • planning and organising skills
  • working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook
  • show confidence and professionalism
  • ability to work on initiative and able to cope with changing environments
  • multi-task
  • excellent attention to detail
  • be a team player

Open to all experienced Commercial Managers, working in a large Highways, Civil's or Utilities project based environment - Immediate start for the successful candidate
