Description

Senior Procurement Officer

Requirements:

To provide operational and technical support for procurement requirements, processes and systems within a specific procurement category, and/or related services.

To undertake technical and operational procurement activities and advisory role ensuring compliance requirements are met.

Reseaching and making recommendations about best practice and supporting implementation of this in the Council.

Direct liaison with suppliers.

Support the monitoring of income and targets.

Support the management of contracts.

Essential Role requirements:

A minimum of 3 years experience in a professional procurement role, preferably within the public sector.

A minimum of 2 year experience in leading procurement projects from pre-tender planning stage through to award, in compliance with the appropriate legislation and best practice.

Sound working knowledge of current EU Procurement Directives, UK Public Contract Regulations and awareness of the latest government procurement policies and guidance.

Confident stakeholder management skills and experience in dealing with stakeholders from both a Procurement and non-Procurement background.

Technical procurement knowledge and experience

Relevant professional qualification or accreditation.

Working knowledge of current procurement regulations, practices and policies.

Commercial awareness/understanding.

Capacity to manage projects of varying complexity and coordinate activities.

Able to collate, analyse and present data to make procurement recommendations.
