Description

We are require an interim Claims Manager with a strong accountancy background to drive and improve the financial management of claims within Underwriting as a whole, the delivery of management information and articulation of financial issues.

Principle Objectives and Responsibilities

Business Partnering

  • Act as a key contact to input into claims costs/budgets held within each individual underwriting zone;
  • Financial oversight of any proposed claims projects, to include any operational restructure;

Claims performance analysis

  • Oversight of abbreviated Claims Financial metrics to Claims Management each week for all Underwriting zones where claims administration takes place with clear articulation of key issues and steps that can be taken to resolve these;
  • Delivering and articulating detailed Claims Financial metrics to Claims Management each month for all Underwriting zones where claims administration takes place;
  • Delivery of relevant monthly claims management information back into the Business Partners responsible for each zone to enable articulation to the business MD or CEO; and
  • Informing Claims Management of any issues with floats for Claims Management to progress with the insurer.

Business process focus

  • Manage and transition the temporary Volume finance claims processes into the central team, including a review of processes performed by business resource that with a view to migrating into the central team eg cashbooks in Commercial;
  • Review of current claims operation within IBA Centre (LAW) with a view to centralising this in London if the processes fit with the L-T Model of the team; and
  • Assess the process needs and build a long term operating model for the centralisation of claims finance with a core ethos of continuous improvement instilled in the new team.

Financial Control Focus

Ensure that key financial controls are in place for all aspects the team is responsible for, not limited to but to include:

  • Making sure accurate records of the financial impact of claims transactions are kept;
  • Making sure claims working capital is minimised (should be zero) and any variations are clearly understood and articulated to the Finance Directors for Volume & Bespoke or whoever may have a vested interest; and
  • Management and sign off of all claims balance sheet accounts and for each zone and delivery of reconciliations to the Divisional Accounting (DA) team in Maidstone to agreed month end timetables.

Background & Experience:

It is essential your CV clearly demonstrate the following;

  • Previous Business Partner experience and experience of Stakeholder management.
  • Gravitas and the ability to influence and traverse complex situations.
  • Operational experience of finance operations and IBA ledgers, ideally within insurance.
  • Previous experience of working in a regulated environment.
  • Strong conflict resolution and communication skills (written and oral).
  • Ability to work to deadlines both individually and as part of a team.
  • Strong academic background and a qualified accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA) with a minimum 2 years PQE.
