Senior Systems Engineer/Equipment Engineer - Equipment Certification

A Senior Systems Engineer with Equipment Certification experience is required to work on an eight month contract with the possibility of extension for our Defence client based in Preston.

This is an 8-month contract with a leading UK Defence business.

Overview of the Senior Systems Engineer contract role

A Senior Systems/Equipment Engineer role has arisen within the Avionic MC&DL Sub-System team; this role will involve performing various tasks as detailed below.

The role requires an engineer with considerable equipment engineering skills, but also with a broad knowledge of and experience in the following sub-system areas:

-Mission Planning Systems

-Mission Computing and Data Loading

Key skills required for the Senior Systems Engineer

The engineer will be required to report to the appropriate section leader and take on a lead engineer role where required.

Main Responsibilities will include:

  • Equipment Certification (Environmental Qualification, Design Proving, etc.)
  • The production, review and update of Equipment Specifications
  • The production, review and update of Interface Control Documents
  • The production, review and update of Engineering Design Requirements Documents
  • The review of aircraft drawings in line with the sub-system changes introduced to the aircraft
  • Supplier management activities
  • Support to FAT/SAT activities
  • Production of test documentation in support of rig and aircraft trial activities
  • The successful candidates will have a degree, HND or equivalent in a relevant Engineering discipline. An understanding of the Engineering Development Lifecycle is essential.
  • The successful candidate must; be able to work with minimal supervision, be willing to travel to KSA, be pro-active, diligent, have strong team-working and communications skills and be committed to a delivery culture.

The role is based in Preston, Lancashire - commutable from Blackpool, Lancaster, Morecambe, Chorley, Leyland, Blackburn, Darwen, Burnley, Skipton, Stockport, Manchester, Warrington, Wigan, Bolton, Bury, Rochdale and Oldham with excellent access from Liverpool and Leeds
