Summary of Role
As part of the Estates Finance Business Partnering Team your role is to protect value, drive value and add value.
You will partner and collaborate with colleagues across the Group (a large government department); ensuring finance is at the heart of commercial decision making. You will be part of a team that supports the Head of Function and the senior leadership team in managing their financial position and implementing their savings and action plans.
Key Responsibilities
You will be part of the Estates Finance team providing support to the Head of Estates.
Key activities:
- Ensure delivery of robust and comprehensive monthly management accounts for senior managers working closely with external delivery partners to ensure accuracy of information reported, supported by:
- Monthly variance analysis to budget/forecast, identifying and reporting risks and opportunities against budget providing sufficient updates to inform quarterly forecast of spend for upload to Single Operating Platform (SOP);
- Ensure the delivery of robust and comprehensive monthly management accounts for senior managers, working closely with external delivery partners to ensure accuracy of the information provided and a thorough understanding of variances to budget/forecast;
- Provide support to the Capital Working Group ensuring all capital forecasts are recorded accurately and reflect updates provided from the project SRO's;
- Support key priorities for the Estates Finance team eg Gateway processes, business case review, options appraisals and support of the Group Property Plan;
- Support the property valuation process ensuring that property assets are recorded correctly on the fixed asset register;
- Production of relevant interim and year end information for audit and disclosure within the Annual Report and Accounts;
- Maintenance and updating of the reporting packs, ensuring alignment with the SOP financial system data;
- Providing information and resolving queries for all stakeholders such as NAO, Network Bodies and external delivery partners;
Qualifications and Experience
Essential: Qualified to AAT Level and studying for an accountancy qualification
Desirable: Educated to degree level or equivalent experience, in any discipline.

- Strong influencing and negotiation skills.
- Previous accounting experience
- Strong written and verbal skills.
- Good IT (Excel) and accounting system experience
- Delivery focus to ensure achievement to specific deadlines and issues addresses in a timely manner
- An ability to make difficult decisions, analyse complex data, excellent communication skills and strong excel
- Ability to work in a culture of change, to embrace change, and to think strategically and work with risk.
- Adaptable and willing to review role and priorities with senior management team to meet the current and future needs of the organisation and key customers.
Location
Flexible location but may involve some national travel.
