Finance Manager - Contract - London - £450 per Day

Our client is looking for an experienced Finance Manager to join one of their key client engagements, reporting to the Financial Controller. The successful candidate will be predominantly based in London, with some travel to Milton Keynes.

With a team of 2 client reports the successful candidate will be managing a large IT programme, working with project teams and senior budget holders, challenging assumptions, providing support for project forecasts, and being responsible for reporting.

Partnering with the business, the candidate will require excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with a varied range of stakeholders both inside and outside of Finance, including Senior Managers. This is a fast moving environment so the candidate needs to be adaptable and hard working. This role is looking for someone who is keen to find best practice and challenge the status quo.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurate monthly reporting while maintaining a positive working relationship with budget holders.
  • Supporting project reviews by providing accurate data and challenging where appropriate.
  • Provide financial analysis to support decision making and understand key variances.
  • Support the annual budgeting process and audit requests.
  • Have a well-developed understanding of supplier cost base and any financial implications of the supplier contracts.
  • Ensure good financial governance is adhered to, support any process improvement, and identify any opportunities for savings or service improvements.
  • Work closely with the client Finance Team to review monthly reports, budgets and any ad-hoc requests.
  • Work with other stakeholders including Commercial, Portfolio, Live Services, the Change Team and stakeholders.
  • Work within the clients Enterprise Resource Planning tool (Prism) including uploading of forecasts/budgets.
  • Support to the Financial Controller and the rest of the team with ad-hoc tasks as required.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • CIMA or ACCA qualified or by experience.
  • Project accounting experience.
  • Proven IT skills, especially using Excel.
  • Good analytical skills and ability to challenge when required.
  • Able to forge positive working relationships with peers.
  • High level communication skills, attention to detail, and a desire and willingness to learn.
  • The ability to be pro-active, flexible, and adaptable.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, growing, global organisation.

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • Experience of working within both the public and private sector.
  • Previous use of an ERP system, ideally Prism.
