The Met Office is a Trading Fund within the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy, operating on a commercial basis under set targets. As the UK's National Weather Service it provides a range of weather and climate services to a large number of public and private sector organisations. It also represents the UK within the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) and plays a prominent role in international meteorology.

All contractor roles will be required to obtain a full national security status, either Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) or Security Clearance (SC). Listed below are the two main essential criteria for candidates requiring clearance and you must meet these criteria to be eligible to apply:-

1) To have resided in the UK for a minimum of two out of the last five years at one address or three out of the last five in the UK. Therefore, if the role is one that requires SC clearance and the candidate does not have the required UK residency, then it is unlikely that the candidate will be suitable to be considered for the role.

2) If candidates have resided overseas for a short period of time but are still eligible for SC clearance, then a police certificate may be requested from FCOS which the candidate will have to obtain themselves. This is just to show they have not had any criminal record whilst living abroad so the certificate must cover the whole period of this time. The candidate will be required to supply employment/education information within the last three years - any gaps during that time will be analysed. Please provide your Nationality on any CV submissions.

If you match these requirements, please apply in the normal way. Elevate will send you an email, please open, click and action that email and your application will be visible to the hiring organisation directly.
