Finance Business Partner/Senior Management Accountant, Revenues, Controls, Utilities Company, Warwick, 6 months

Major Utilities Company is looking to appoint a Hands-on Finance Business Partner to work in one of their key business areas. The role is suited for someone who has good recent experience in this type of role or a senior accountant who is looking to develop their stakeholder engagement piece. The role will focus upon Business partnering but will still have an element of accounting provision.

The role is based in Warwick on an initial 6 months

Role Summary:

To provide comprehensive financial support to revenue and incentives for areas of business responsibility; ensuring appropriate financial control in business planning, budgeting and forecasting, monthly financial reporting and inputs to the month-end reporting process. As appropriate, to support and challenge areas of business responsibility in delivering business change initiatives to deliver future value in the revenue and incentive areas.

Key accountabilities

  • To build and develop relationships with members of functional and process teams, to provide financial analysis and evaluation
  • Responsible for month-end accounting inputs and outputs for revenue and incentives, ensuring completeness, consistency and accuracy of all data, and that accounting entries are appropriately classified in accordance with internal policy.
  • Compile and review financial performance reports, including Flash report, monthly income brief, RRP reports and reports for Investor Relations,
  • Engage with the wider business to establish, maintain and monitor the financial control framework and provide robust risk management for area of electricity revenue and incentives in order to maintain and manage the risk register
  • To provide robust financial acumen to support business change; ensuring that change opportunities are optimised and that data is used in a way that supports business decisions that drive value into the business.
  • To use financial information, coupled with an understanding of RIIO price control, to evaluate, challenge and improve the revenue and incentive performance of the business.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to drive continuous improvement in processes through the implementation of best practice, drawing on external sources and internal references, in order to drive increased value
  • Proactively build own knowledge of RIIO and its impact on the business and industry in order to support key decisions and advise and guide own business area.
  • To support the delivery of change across finance and the business, role-modelling new ways of working and owning delivery of key outcomes to drive the improvement of long term business capability.
  • To contribute to and support all key strategic and commercial decisions across the full range of business priorities and influence plans and investment appraisals for areas of business responsibility to help drive long term performance.
  • Lead and manage two team members, developing talent and driving value by through leading by example
