Job Summary

The IT Enterprise Portfolio Management (ITEPM) team is a newly formed team with a four-part mission that focuses on enterprise portfolio and funding strategy, reporting/insights, standardization of program management execution as well as support for the corporate health of the overall IT organization. This role will manage tactical and strategic transformation activities.

As a Senior Project Manager, you will discover ways to interpret opportunities for Enterprise Technology to work smarter and manage dependencies in a highly visual way. This role will discover ways to manage the reporting of projects and programs across the IT organization and will oversee/track the work being completed. As part of implementing this tracking, the Senior Project Manager will partner with our enterprise-level colleagues to ensure IT work meets business strategic objectives. This unrivalled access to stakeholders is one of the key differentiators between this role and other similar level roles.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain visual representations of enterprise programs and processes to determine dependencies and impacts based on data collection and analysis.
  • Lead regular interactions with the executive sponsor to inform, alert, negotiate and maintain a positive relationships and shared vision for enterprise portfolio outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities and maximize the potential of existing activities to improve the business through a combination of cost reduction and process optimization.
  • Translate transformation recommendations into manageable work streams and deliver the agreed sign-off recommendations, including the product deliverables of projects within the overall program governance.
  • Establish and ensure appropriate governance functions for the portfolio in accordance with enterprise policies and practices.
  • Direct the creation and maintenance of any presentations, deliverables or conceptual diagrams of portfolio activities and processes.
  • Develop a strong working knowledge of the business needs as well as the technical solutions being implemented so the ITEPM Team can provide thought leadership during the execution of any portfolio activities.
  • Actively drive the analysis and ultimate disposition of all change requests impacting enterprise initiatives
  • Track that there is the required balance of availability of the required skills and competencies across project teams within the program.
  • Lead reviews with executive sponsors and stakeholders to identify organic or specific program needs and/or changes and recommend appropriate solutions to address risks and issues
  • Lead the development and maintenance of stakeholder mapping, communications and reporting.
  • Act as an advisor and build/maintain relationships across the wider stakeholder community.

Qualifications

Education

  • Undergraduate degree in business/project management or technical field or equivalent experience/training

Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressive broad-based information systems and business experience, delivering complex technology solutions
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience leading Agile teams and/or experience as a Product Owner required
  • Hands on experience using Rally for scope and schedule and Planview or other PPM tools for resource planning and time management
  • Proven ability to track program changes, risks, opportunities, dependency and actions logs and issues in a complex enterprise environments
  • Familiarity with the principals of lean methodology and strong analytical ability is highly beneficial for this role
  • Ability to lead end-to-end of assigned portfolio activities, from shaping the approach to getting the desired outcomes through to delivery

Knowledge and Skills

  • Proactive, organized, accurate and thorough without creating unnecessary work for themselves or their stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to effectively communicate in a clear and concise manner as well as create effective presentations for all levels of management.
  • Ability to describe the high-level business functions, capabilities and intersections of applications in user friendly language.
  • Excellent skills in critical thinking, management of company politics, building good relationships and coaching project managers.
  • Knowledge and/or hands-on experience with DevOps a plus.
  • Possess the knowledge of or have the ability to learn how to identify all inter-related and dependent systems that integrate and exchange data and transactions in our technology eco-system.
  • A real team player who is humble, self-driven and smart.
  • Ability to interact with co-workers, stakeholders and management in a positive and cooperative manner.
  • Ability to identify and analyze problem situations and recommend an effective course of action for resolution.
  • Must be a self-starter, highly motivated and able to perform in a fast-paced environment with some direction.
  • Broad experience in a variety of computing platforms (Mainframe, Client Server, web, cloud, social media, etc.) a plus.
