Operational Researcher - 4 months - £750/day LTD - Croydon.

Description:

Undertake investigative work to determine business opportunities, and specify effective business processes. Specify their implementation through improvements in information systems, data management, practices, organisation and equipment.
Conduct investigations for strategy studies, requirements specifications and feasibility studies. Maintain technical awareness at a level where alternatives can be analysed, modelled and classified according to technical feasibility and non-functional characteristics.
Assess and advise on the practicability of alternatives, marrying up technical limitations with operational realities. Take responsibility as needed for the detailed specification and modelling of recommended solutions. Apply available standards, methods and tools in an intelligent and effective way and produce a consistently high standard of documentation.
Define, plan and justify (in business terms) projects to develop/implement automated and non-automated components of new or changed processes. Assist clients/users in defining acceptance criteria for testing of automated systems.
Produce business models in support of business strategy. Cross-check various model elements for inconsistencies and incompleteness eg finite state models against use case models, class diagrams against business rules, case post conditions against class diagrams.
Elicit and record business rules and confirm them with business experts; Contribute to evaluating the factors which must be addressed in change programmes including cultural, organisational and business constraints affecting options for change. Assess the risks, costs and potential benefits of alternative business process designs.

Additional Experience:

* Experience in using operational research techniques, including both "hard" and "soft" techniques.
* Experience in facilitating workshops.
* Experience in scoping, developing and delivering analytical products for non-analytical staff.
* Experience in project management and customer engagement.

Experience Required:

* Experience in producing high quality analytical products using a range of operational research (OR) skills relevant for qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis.
* Good knowledge of forecasting methodologies.
* Proficient in spreadsheet modelling using Excel, including strong Excel VBA coding ability.
* Experience in application of Quality Assurance methods, including knowledge of the principles that underpin the AQuA Book.
* Coding skills in languages including SAS, R & Power BI would be desirable.
