SopraSteria Recruitment are working in partnership with a Public sector organization to hire a Senior Procurement Specialist based in London. Role specs below. Many thanks.

Pay-rate: £480 per day

Duration of contract: 6 months (with possible extension)

IR35 status: Inside IR35

Experience Required

Essential:

  • Experienced in advanced purchasing techniques (eg OJEU) and purchasing platforms
  • Proven ability to communicate verbally and written with a wide range of internal and external customers
  • Excellent team-working skills
  • Accurate and a keen eye for detail
  • Proven ability to influence at senior level
  • Excellent interpersonal/leadership skills
  • Excellent negotiation skills and demonstrable experience of complex contract negotiations
  • Solution focused high level of analytical skills
  • Proven ability to focus on value for customers with an excellent strategic sourcing track record
  • Demonstrable experience of working on complex commercial procurements in both public and private sectors.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of contract law, EU procurement directives and Public Contracts Regulations 2015
  • Excellent level in Microsoft Office products; Excel, Word and Outlook, confident using Excel for analytical purposes
  • Experience of e-Sourcing applications
  • Experience in the procurement of outsourcing contracts
  • Experience of working in a large dispersed organisation
  • Experience of working with investment/fund managers
  • The position will be remote from the main UK SBS office so it is essential that the successful applicant is a self starter able to work independently. The position will require occasional travel between London and Swindon.

Desirable:

  • Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply

As the successful candidate you will:

  • Advise and support the client's Project Team on procurement options for best commercial outcomes
  • Provide advice and guidance on Public Contracts Regulations 2015
  • Ensure adherence by team members to Government regulations regarding the advertising and publishing of opportunities via the Official journal of the European Union (OJEU), the Contracts Finder tool and other initiatives
  • Provide excellent procurement support to the HNIP Project Management team and other projects as they arise.
  • Provide sourcing support to the client's procurement team for other projects as and when activity workload on the HNIP project permit.

Individual responsibilities will include:

  • Providing detailed commercial input into the procurement planning and client's development
  • Management of the procurement exercise from the issue of the client's until completion
  • Leading contract negotiations with the preferred supplier
  • Supporting individual, team and department savings and delivery targets
  • Resolving client and supplier queries
  • Providing ad-hoc and routine reporting as directed by the Head of Procurement
  • ensuring implementation and enforcement of policies and procedures for the team, including recent government requirements and initiatives
