SAM Analyst | Software Asset Manager | Analyst | Milton Keynes

SAM Analyst required for an immediate start by leading Global Consultancy on a 3 month initial contract based in Milton Keynes.

Job Spec:

As a Software Asset Management Analyst, you will be involved in the procurement and management of software licences, deployment of software, acquisitions, compliance, maintenance renewal and life cycle planning.

High Level Accountabilities

This role will be 50% BAU and 50% Compliance activity and will include, but not be limited to:

Introducing and improving SAM processes where possible
Responding to requests from end users, managers and team members for specific IT Software Asset Management access and data information in a timely and efficient manner using the SAM Tool (currently Servicenow)
Be responsible for licence harvesting (Collecting or storing of unused licences) and licence recycling (using harvested licences instead of buying new licences)
Procurement of software, licences and subscriptions
Facilitate the business' needs for ongoing technical support and upgrade protection on selected products by ensuring that maintenance, support and upgrade protection renewals are managed/handled/ordered in advance o their expiration
Liaising with end users to ensure that software is up to date, in line with maintenance agreements and their working requirements
Identify savings opportunities for renewals and software licensing
Manage relationships with the Business and Suppliers for software licensing and maintenance
Collect information for budgeting, software compliance and inventory and cost comparisons
Enter and maintain information in the Software Asset Management database to address software compliance inventory and cost
Assist in the developing of reporting to address management audience
Investigate and record any entitlement arising from departmental or individual software purchases, ensuring that proof of licence has been established in line with both Firm and Software House policies
Identify and record all entitlement changes arising from any transactions
Utilise metering and discovery data when appropriate
Assist in reconciliation and rectification work, where required
Assist with collating compliance and verification presenting stats
Assist with both technical/administractive problems

Experience:

Essential
Strong Excel Skills with a good understanding of formulas and the ability to work within multiple worksheets are a requirement
Experience in a SAM Role is necessary
Thorough knowledge of all aspects of the Software Asset Management process is essential

Desired
Knowledge of a SAM Tool is advantageous, although training can be provided
Familiar with standard Software License Agreements and the ability to read and understand software contract language is essential
Experience of usage reporting is desired
