Under general supervision, formulates and defines systems scope and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with an understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements. With this knowledge, oversees/facilitates the process to develop and/or modify complex information systems. Includes analysing business and user needs, documenting requirements, and testing to confirm requirements are met. Guides and advises less-experienced Business Analysts. Competent to work in some phases of systems analysis and considers the business implications of application technology on the business environment. This role is a traditional Business Analyst position, but IT Analyst skills are a plus. Excellent communication skills and extensive project/program experience are a must.
Preference will be giving to candidates familiar with the Oil & Gas industry. SCADA is a must.
- Acts as a liaison between the IT development group and business units for the development and implementation of new systems and enhancement of existing systems.
- Conduct business process analysis, needs assessments, and preliminary cost/benefits analysis in an effort to align information technology solutions with business initiatives.
- Evaluates new applications and identifies systems requirements.
- Evaluates new IT developments and evolving business requirements, and recommends appropriate systems alternatives and/or enhancements to current systems.
- Prepares communications and makes presentations on system enhancements and/or alternatives.
- Participates in or facilitates testing as needed by the business.
- May facilitate or participate in user training.
Required Experience:
- Must be able to articulate and resume must speak to, proven ability in Documentation of design, designing test plans and tying testing to req documents.
- Industry knowledge is required
- Experience in a role that required some technical knowledge and strong business analysis skills
- At least 6 years of experience
Preferred:
- Business knowledge of oil & gas measurement is a plus
- Knowledge of IT Software Development Lifecycle
- Knowledge of Process Management (Driving process definition sessions, process mapping, etc)
- 10+ years of experience
