Senior External Communications Advisor

A Senior External Communications Advisor with Media Relations and Development Plans experience is required to work on a twelve month contract with the possibility of extension for our Defence client based in Cumbria.

This is a long term opportunity working within the Submarine Industry.

Overview of the Senior External Communications Advisor contract role

This role will support the delivery of Submarines' PR and media relations activity, leading the development of all plans and strategies.

He/she will need to develop strong working relationships with local and regional media contacts to positively position the work of Submarines to key external stakeholders. As well as an excellent understanding of traditional media, the role will also focus on the effective use of social and digital media as a key channel.

Reporting directly to the Head of Communications, he/she will be required to lead a small team and/or projects, where appropriate. They will act as the point of contact with the Company's head office press team and will be required to development strong working relationships across both Submarines and the Group.

Key skills required for the Senior External Communications Advisor

This person must have experience of working in either the media, a PR agency or an in-house communications team.

Degree and/or relevant professional certificate (eg, CIPR diploma) or equivalent experience.

A good understanding of the role of communications within the business.

The role is based in Barrow in Furness, Cumbria - commutable from Carnforth, Milnthorpe, Lancaster, Morecambe, Penrith, Workington, Whitehaven and The Lake District
