Sopra Steria Recruitment is working in partnership with a public sector organisation to hire a Communications Business Partner based in Birmingham. Role Spec below. Many thanks.

Contract: 6 months (with possible extension)

Rate: £500 per day (Inside of IR35)

Essentials:

  • Specialist communications knowledge and experience, underpinned by relevant professional qualifications or training
  • Proven track record of working in a complex environment and leading others
  • Significant experience in leading, planning and delivering integrated change communications, and/or experience of working in a corporate commercial, finance and business delivery environment.
  • Evidence of effective stakeholder relationship management, influencing and negotiating skills, to deliver results
  • Evidence of working successfully with senior leaders from within internal and external stakeholder organisations
  • Ability to understand the context and implications of commercial and financial plans to enable effective decisions to be taken

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the designated business area to understand what communications requirements and activity is required to support their Delivery Plan objectives.
  • Plan agreed communications activity, commissioning the other Communications Directorate functions (including press and media, campaigns, events, creative, digital, and internal communications teams) to assist with delivery.
  • Play a key role in advising and working closely with the directors of their dedicated directorate(s), specializing in supporting all aspects of their specialised communications support requirements.
  • Ensure that communications activity is based on evidential insight, is aligned to the Communications Management Strategy, and fully evaluated.

Specific to the role:

  • Provide a source of authoritative advice on communications policy and practice to managers across partner directorate(s)
  • Develop and deliver proactive plans for communications and stakeholder engagement, while being prepared for reactive communications and issues management.
  • Engage with the wider stakeholder and communications agenda, and ensure relevant initiative and campaign strategies both influence and align with the wider approach.
  • Work collaboratively across organisational boundaries to identify business needs, priorities and potential challenges that impact on or are impacted by company communications and take action to mitigate risks and pursue opportunities.
  • Utilize Communications Directorate approved processes, systems, tools and products, ensuring a practical and consistent approach.
  • Identify, segment, and prioritize key and national stakeholders and be accountable for their successful management.
  • Ensure relevant communications and campaign strategies are effectively designed, implemented, monitored and evaluated, with a view to establishing and sharing best practice with other relevant parts of the organisation.
