Charge Design Engineer, Chemical Engineering, Charge Development, Munitions

Location: South Wales - commutable from Abergavenny, Ebbw Vale, Merthyr Tydfil, Aberdare, Pontypridd, Newport, Caldicot, Usk, Chepstow, Monmouth, Cwmbran, Blackwood, Pontypool and Abertillery with excellent access from Hereford, Ross-on-Wye, Cheltenham, Gloucester,

Duration: 6 Months

Rate: £25 per hour

Clearance: BPSS clearance (or willing and eligible to undergo)

Key skills;

My client, a global organisation, is currently looking for a Charge Design Engineer to work as operating as part of a multi-disciplined propelling charge development team involved in the development, design and manufacture of charges for a number of new munitions products and maintaining performance of Legacy products. Candidates applying for the role of Charge Design Engineer must also have, design, development, test and evaluation experience of the new and Legacy propelling charges. Conducting and managing trials in a safe and suitable manner, from the trials planning stage to completion of the trial and presentation of the data and ideally have experience within engineering

Essential skills;

  • Minimum- Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
  • 3 Years' experience in the Chemical/Chemical Engineering industry
  • Experience of hazard identification, risk assessment and mitigation in support of trial or test activities.
  • Experience in the planning and conduct of evaluation trials.
  • Proven ability to take ownership, prioritise and deliver objectives within development projects to ensure completion within agreed time-scales and to required standard
  • A good understanding of project/risk management and the ability to use associated tools and techniques
  • IT Literate

Desirable;

  • A knowledge of gun propellants
  • A working knowledge of the propelling charge design process
  • A working knowledge of the chemistry of propellants and their ingredients
  • Experience in the use of mathematical modelling
  • Familiarity with the Life Cycle Management (LCM) process

A working knowledge of Systems Engineering and Engineering design would be an advantage

Advanced data analysis and computing skills

Advanced report writing skills
