Description

Senior Finance Manager - NHS - London - 3 months - up to £450 a day (inside IR35)

You will provide expert technical support to the finance leads in the negotiation, monitoring and performance management of local acute trusts.

Duties

  • Provision of financial advice to other finance teams and other CCGs in London with regard to the Team's co-ordinating commissioning role in the negotiation of hosted contracts.
  • Lead responsibility in all financial aspects of the negotiation, monitoring and performance management of other acute contracts including detailed analysis of Trust proposals and financial risk modelling to ensure value for money is achieved in undertaking the organisation's contracting responsibilities.
  • Lead support in the development and lead in the provision of financial information to CCGs in respect of acute commissioning elements of medium term service and financial plans, including close working with information and public health staff within the CCGs to ensure delivery of robust financial and activity modelling at specialty and sub-specialty level that will be subject to close scrutiny.
  • Lead in all financial aspects of the organisation's input into acute sector London Specialist Commissioning Consortia arrangements.
  • To provide input to the costing, pricing and financial planning activity of CCGs, including supporting the development of accurate programme costs and benchmarks using available systems.
  • Responsibility for working with CCGs to develop and implement agreed resource allocation and budget setting policies for practices related to acute services, including advising CCGs on appropriate pace of change methodologies.

Essential Experience

  • NHS Experience
  • Qualified CCAB or CIMA Accountant with significant experience in a senior position.
  • Advanced knowledge of financial and accounting procedures, financial and other aspects of legislation and NHS finance policies.
  • Knowledge of and competence in the use of financial systems software including spread sheet skills and the ability to develop spread sheet models
  • Knowledge and understanding of the National Tariff Payment System (previously Payment by Results - PbR) and commissioning.
  • Work autonomously guided by Financial Reporting Standards, Manual for Accounts and other policies with the ability to interpret them.
