Description
A Senior Big Data Architect is urgently required by a leading IT vendor based in Rome, Italy on an 18-month contract.
The successful candidate must be able to speak Italian and English.
On offer is a competitive rate which can be negotiable dependent on experience.
On a day to day basis you will be expected to:
- Design and implement end-to-end Big Data projects (delivery position).
- Evaluates and defines data integration strategy, building data flow and component architecture blueprints.
- End-to-end Proof of Concept activities.
- Support pre-sales activities on solution design, including hardware and sizing definitions.
- Execute and lead installation processes, configuration and tunings of Hadoop Big Data clusters.
- Performance analysis of Hadoop platforms, tuning of application and components.
- Be able to complete Analysis, planning and execution of massive data migrations.
- Plan and execute expansions and new component installations.
- Complete Technical advisory for software developers, including software framework and development practice definitions, code reviews.
The successful candidate must be/have:
- Hands-on professional to lead and materialize all technical aspects of big data projects.
- Interdisciplinary knowledge in IT, covering development and infrastructure for integrated problem solving.
- Advisory profile in the areas of BI, Data Warehousing, Application Integration, Cloud infrastructure and Big Data platforms (more than one is desirable)
- Solid knowledge of architecture standards and ease of absorbing new technologies
- Solid Hadoop platform knowledge, including Spark, Mapreduce, Hive and HBASE.
- Solid knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems;
- Solid knowledge in hardware design, network architectures, TCP/IP, DNS, Firewalls;
- Solid knowledge in Shell and SQL languages;
- Solid knowledge in Java, Python, or Scala (more than one is desirable)
- Solid knowledge in Datamodelling, Data Warehousing and MPP databases (Greenplum, Teradata, Netezza);
- Solid conceptual knowledge of NoSQL and practical in some solution (Hbase, Cassandra, Riak, Redis, MongoDB, etc).
Preferable but not required:
- Authentication mechanisms such as Kerberos and OpenLDAP;
- Automation tools like Chef, Puppet, Ansible.
- ETL, BI and Visualization tools (Pentaho, Cognos, Powercenter, SAS, Microstrategy, Tableau).
- Integration and messaging architectures
- Development of web applications, backends and REST APIs.
- Development pipelines and DevOps
