EC&I Design Coordinator

Hinckley

Job Purpose

To provide expertise and guidance on all Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) technical aspects of design quality across a portfolio of diverse and complex projects from concept through to delivery across all asset types. To support Network Integrity in the assurance of design quality, efficiency and safety by design of the clients proposed solutions

Experience

  • Demonstrate specialist (EC&I) technical knowledge and experience of successful project design on high pressure gas transmission/distribution assets, ie pipelines, offtakes and above-ground installations
  • Detailed understanding of appropriate legislative requirements, company policies and procedures

Qualifications

  • Educated ideally to degree level or equivalent, leading to Chartered status or similar in the field of engineering.
  • Ideally supported by recognised training or qualifications on the Health, Safety and Environmental Management

Main Interfaces

  • EDS Project teams - Ensure safe, effective and timely delivery of design solutions. Provide specialist knowledge where required and share best practice.
  • Construction Delivery Contractors - Ensuring compliance with the business' Policies, Specifications and Procedures. Ensure Whole life asset design quality, efficiency and safety of proposed engineering solutions. Manage and Report on Contractor performance
  • Operations - Operate and Maintain, key customer and stakeholder for scope, expert user knowledge for design review, safe control of operations, supporting project management, commissioning and handover of completed projects
  • Network Strategy - Policy and Integrity Teams - Ensure compliance with the G17 and FPSA processes, derogations and deviations from policy, technical support
  • Construction and Procurement - Procurement and Supplier Contracts Teams - Operations - to efficiently manage agreed level of support,
  • Assurance and Business Planning & Project Controls - to deliver agreed and appropriate levels of assurance and quality

Key Tasks

  • Provide engineering support to coordinate and resolve technical issues received from internal and external stakeholders through all project phases
  • Work closely with key stakeholders including the Network Engineering and Asset Safety & Integrity teams to ensure smooth project development to technical specifications identifying solutions and innovations to outperform RIIO
  • Ensure the Company's Safety, Health and Environmental objectives are delivered in the drive for world class safety performance including support of compliance with the Company's Process Safety procedures through completion of the Formal Process Safety Assessment (FPSA) and discharging CDM 2015 responsibilities for projects that have been assigned
  • Influence detailed designs using industry and company best practice and innovation taking into account human factors, buildability and ongoing access and maintenance, delivering consistent high quality designs that incorporate the whole life value of assets to outperform RIIO
  • Identify best practice and lessons learned and ensure that these are Embedded into future distribution projects
  • Participate in working groups to develop, review and implement Company policies, procedures and specifications and drive continuous improvement
