Production Scheduler

8 Month Contract

Barnard Castle - County Durham

£24 p/h

Job Purpose

This role will execute Materials Requirements Planning & Inventory Management across entire horizon of the Supply Plan for selected commodities/suppliers within a single site in the GSK Manufacturing network.

To run the Performance Management process for externally purchased and GSK Intersite materials (Inbound Materials) for a single site within the GSK Manufacturing network linking in with Interrnal functions and External suppliers.

To monitor, maintain and ensure complete accuracy of all critical data fields related to Inbound materials.

Key Responsibilities

Material Requirements Planning

Execution of the Material Scheduler Scripted Week to support the Supply Plan.

Ensure all materials are ordered in the MERP system to support the supply Plan to the defined methodology considering optimum frequency, purchase volume and managing costs.

Appropriate communication type and ensure timely Right First Time (RFT) generation of Vendor Schedules/Purchase Orders/Schedule Agreements.

Review and action MERP exception messages and escalate issues affecting Supply Plans. The priority is ensuring material availability.

Liaise with Scheduling on material availability and risk management for the short-term plan.

For identified suppliers ensuring a periodic review of the GSK requirements and Supplier Capacity and identifying/mitigating risks. If Globally or Strategically managed collaborate with Planning & Procurement. Developing where applicable the business case and ensuring appropriate governance is followed for committed purchase eg supplier campaigns. Communicate with Planning where issues will compromise the medium/long term plan.

Support product life cycle management including pack change, launch, run down, obsolete, material changes including stock build where required.

Generate, trend and drive improved material availability RFT KPI.

Inventory Management

Maintain, monitor and management of inventory to support the Supply Plan aligned with Inventory Policy, Supply Agreement and Procurement Risk Map.

Inputting to the Inventory forecast process; highlighting risks and opportutities.

Lead projects with suppliers to optimise inventory ie Vendor Held/Managed Inventory, Consignment Stock. In all cases considering the impacts to other Inbound functions.

Lead and own stock at risk/provision review and management for area of responsibility. Liaise with scheduler/planner as required.

Identification and mitigation of stock at risk and working with key support functions in processing any inventory write off requests using MERP notifications. Lead root causing and problem solve for provision and stock write off's.

Manage materials returns to suppliers and replenishment of stocks as required to ensure materials availability.

Performance manage key metrics relating to materials eg inventory levels, provisions, stock write offs etc.

Data Management

MERP Data Owner & Provider of Inbound Material Parameters which drive the Materials Requirements Plan. Use of GMM Portal to update data fields.

Understanding, review, optimisation and maintenance of Master Data for Inbound materials parameters.

Supplier Performance Management

Point of contact with suppliers with respect to supply of materials and first touch resolution for supplier related issues and escalation as required.

Measurement of supplier performance and various KPIs (MERP - On Time In Full) and driving performance improvement. Collaborate with and escalation to Procurement to manage second touch performance and risks.

Host and visit suppliers to build relationships to improve performance and address supplier issues impacting supply.

Respond to blocked invoices and to ensure that suppliers are paid on time.

In relation to Inbound materials, understanding of Logistics Service Providers, Import/Customs, Inco-Terms, HMRC requirements for Inbound Supply.

Inbound

Collaborative working with other Inbound functions to generate the Inbound Schedule considering goods receipt, sampling, testing. Key functions include: Warehouse, IMQC, Supplier Conformance. Chair weekly Inbound Scheduling meeting.

Attend relevant meetings (TAP, Handover Meetings, Supply Review Meeting) with other Inbound functions, Scheduling, Planning and to resolve material issues and manage capacity.

Compliance

To provide the support required to ensure the area is audit ready and fully compliant with Safety, and Quality standards at all times. Audit fronting and SOP owner for Material Scheduling activities. Support self inspection, problem solving and identifying corrective actions to improve performance.

Candidate Profile

Professional qualification or with equivalent experience in Supply Chain

Strong interpersonal, leadership and influencing skills

Good working knowledge of Supply Chain & Materials Management processes

Time management and prioritisation skills

Ability to assimilate information from different sources to generate achievable plans

Attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure

Good organisational skills

Working knowledge of Quality & EHS standards.
