Description

A government department in Canberra is seeking the services of an Enterprise Architect.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective development of the end-to-end solution architecture for functional and technical solutions.

They will work with and direct specific solution stream specialists to provide the overall business, applications, information, integration and technical architectures for overall business systems.

Key Result Areas

Lead the development of IT future state architecture, representing the IT Group;
Develop the necessary frameworks to mature the Enterprise Architecture Practice to support future state development and technical delivery. This includes leading the tight coupling of Enterprise Architecture guidance across the SDLC and within delivery methodologies (eg Projects);
Fulfill an assurance role as an Enterprise Architect within the IT Group;
Develop Enterprise and #Solution #Architecture and supporting documentation, briefs etc.;
Provide advice into security documentation relating to IT Group platforms;
Provide direction in the identification, and is responsible for the ultimate choice, of architecture solution components;
Develop policies, standards and guidelines that direct the selection, development, implementation and use of Information Technology within IT Group;
Define and maintain the end-to-end solution architecture as a leader within IT Group, for business areas, covering business, application, information, integration and technical solution component domains;
Work with individual solution architects, designers and developers for each project or work stream to develop the enterprise solution;
Act as visionary and strategist for technical product selection and/or integration;
Manage the individual stream solution architects and other Program architects in the development of the end-to-end Program architecture;
Co-ordinate with business analysts in the development of solution requirements and associated artefacts;
Providing guidance and advice on the architectural iteration strategy and blueprint;
Troubleshooting and escalate technical enterprise level issues as appropriate;
Build trusted and effective relationships with Business Analysts, System Analysts, test analysts, Business Subject Matter Experts and other peer architects to clarify intended system behaviour and supporting business processes;
Advise upon the impact and complexity of new system enhancements; and
Proven knowledge and experience working with various testing methodologies including Waterfall and Agile.

Qualifications
Degree in IT or equivalent industry experience.

Desirable
Formal training in other supporting Architecture or delivery enabling tools, methods and techniques (eg Agile, PRINCE 2 etc.).
Formal training in architecture theory (eg TOGAF) or equivalent industry experience.

Experience
10+ years of experience in Enterprise Architecture or similar roles, providing technical advice and leadership to inform management on large scale IT projects and/or program delivery;
Applied experience developing architecture frameworks and other technical and advisory artefacts or documents, enabling active and applied assurance for IT solution delivery;
Applied experience working with various SDLC and delivery methodologies including Waterfall, Agile, PRINCE2 etc.;
Able to prepare and present convincing technical advice to tactical and executive management. This may extend to advice concerning security advice or collaboration to ensure technical exposures are known and minimised;
Ability to network, negotiate and influence stakeholders across business and IT domains to collaboratively achieve desired outcomes;
Demonstratable and applied experience providing practical and evidence-based advice for IT system delivery, across all phases of the SDLC.

Desirable
Experience working across multiple integrated technology stacks: eg Siebel, DotNet, FMW, OPA, SAP, COGNOS, Mobile etc.;
Understand how to evaluate complexity of work and can assess and prepare estimates and advice to gauge future delivery impacts (eg Estimates or Bill of Materials).

The role requires the candidate to be an Australian Citizen and hold baseline clearance prior to commencement.
