Pontoon has received an excellent opportunity for an IT Buyer to join a major IT services company based in Nottingham where you'll be involved in a business-critical role that offers opportunity to test your skills and experience within a category that is constantly being challenged with new and innovative business demands.

My client are the leading global information services company, providing data and analytical tools to our clients around the world. They help businesses to manage credit risk, prevent fraud, automate decision making and target marketing offers, and helps consumers to manage their financial profile. In 2017, they were named by Forbes magazine as one of the "World's Most Innovative Companies" for the fourth year in a row.

What does the Procurement team do?

The Procurement team works with internal clients across the global business. We help them make great purchasing decisions that deliver real value to their business and their bottom line.

We work closely with the business and have a pivotal role in ensuring my client gets the best value for money from its suppliers whilst minimizing risk and ensuring business needs are met. Procurement provide an end-to-end service including the selection of new providers, contract management and issue resolution. The team are based all over the globe and we have opportunities to support both the UK and global business units. Buyers have regional ownership of the category reporting into the Global Category Manager who lead the global category strategy and provide support on the development and delivery of the regional strategies.

Day to day you'll be responsible for the following:

  • Development of a regional category strategy which aligns to the global strategy
  • Managing RFPs, auctions and contract pipelines - utilising Ariba our esourcing tool
  • Negotiate with suppliers ensuring that app expenditure is covered by appropriate contracts and delivery of cost savings
  • Managing all escalations of contract terms to the in-house legal team
  • Supporting performance review meetings with key suppliers and business stakeholders
  • Driving process compliance and adherence to global policies ensuring best practice is adopted
  • Developing relationships and influence behaviours of internal clients and suppliers as required
  • Delivering departmental KPI's as required by the business
  • Providing analysis and reporting for the countries spend as required and maintain category management documents
  • Support the Global Category Manager
  • Working closely with the finance team to ensure good governance is maintained
  • Administering orders for suppliers in accordance with the terms agreed.

So, what are we looking for?

We're looking for passionate individuals who are dedicated to developing themselves and getting the best out of our suppliers, and this would be a great role for an existing Buyer to enhance their skills and broaden their exposure across a global organisation.

We are looking for the following:

  • Proven experience of working as a Buyer, in a fast paced organisation where driving innovation and being first to market is a priority
  • Experience buying across different categories/industries would be an advantage
  • Negotiation skills and business acumen
  • Ability to analyse numerical and non-numerical data
  • Proven project management skills
  • Ability to lead and influence relationships, internally and externally, at all levels
  • Strong administration skills and commercial awareness
  • Time management - ability to manage own time and priorities
  • Ability to work with limited guidance and able to respond to changing business needs.
  • Commercial law - good understanding of contractual law, including risks and drafting experience
  • It's a bonus if you're CIPS qualified or have experience of Oracle, Ariba and Sharepoint, but training will be provided
