Project description:
Water lentils (Lemna) are grown in scientific projects in order to evaluate whether these can be utilized as food supplements. Their cultivation requires a high amount of water, low evaporation & energy. Initiated by the Client innovation department, this project aims to analyze the current market situation of plant proteins and main off takers in the food and feed market, the overall demand and an understanding of the value chain. Geographic focus will be Germany and Europe.
Task:
- Analyse the German / European market with regard to potential off taker of Lemna within the protein and nutrition
market
- Conduct research on potential usage of water lentil biomass as i.e. animal food or dietary supplement
- Identify value chain of water lentil biomass production
- Identify potential cooperation partners manufacturing water lentils, Client will be able to apply its technological
expertise to maintain / enhance / optimize production facilities
- Establish contact with potential cooperation partners to evaluate feasibility and connect with
client s innovation department for further development
- Identify potential areas of demand along with potential buyers
- Establish contact with potential buyers and connect with client
- Consolidate findings and develop business case of water lentil production, highlighting current market situation, in
Germany / Europe, develop strategies on how to best engage in this market range
- Present business case to client and consult with regard to feasibility
Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of food chemistry and all hygienic and certification requirements
- Good understanding of the food ingredient market (ideally for human food and animal feed) and the cost and prices
- Strong network within the food ingredient and raw material industry
- Good communication skills and innovative mindset
- English or German language
