Procurement Category Manager

Logistic Procurement supports the ambitions of GSK by providing procurement services to over 115 markets and GSK's Pharmaceutical, Vaccines and Consumer supply chains taking our products from manufacture to our patients and consumers.

The Logistics Procurement team ensures delivering targeted value for each supply chain and ensuring the needs of Safety, Quality, Compliance, Service and Cost & Cash are met. The ambition and target is to deliver +5% reduction in the cost to serve our customers each year through tools such as negotiation, benchmarking and demand management.

This role operates in a highly complex and competitive environment and will be accountable for implementing and executing procurement strategies to manage GSK's warehouse and distribution services in EMEA in line with the goal of increasing visibility, control and compliance while delivering incremental value to GSK. Additionally, the role also demands strong leadership to drive step change improvement in executing of complex and global category projects.

Key responsibilities
Lead the development, management and implementation of comprehensive sourcing strategies in alignment with GSK and Procurement to deliver agreed savings targets and other benefits that significantly impact GSK financial results.
Warehousing and Distribution for Pharma (£50 million annually)
Lead complex negotiations and develop contractual agreements with global and regional LSPs.
Lead complex tender process through e-sourcing and e-auction tools.
Engage and influence stakeholders across the E2E supply chains and in country teams - working collaboratively across all Supply Chains and commercial teams to support the strategy deployment and savings delivery
Active involvement in strategy development and deployment of the Supply Chain strategies
Leading Continuous Improvement and Savings Programmes: Understanding the needs of our business partners, patients and consumers and bringing opportunities from the supply base while creating buy-in and developing a culture of taking calculated risks to maximise opportunities and benefits
Lead the development of strategic relationships with critical suppliers in order to identify and develop innovation..
Represent the category on relevant strategy development and supply chain planning forums
Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring business alignment for excellent execution

Key experience
Considerable specialist knowledge and practical experience and viewed as subject matter expert in managing Logistics in a regional/global sourcing context
Highly developed commercial acumen with demonstrated success in delivering a competitive commercial advantage. Successful multi-year track record in delivering year on year savings in a challenging economic climate.
Demonstrated ability to forge close business relationships with internal and external stakeholders at management level.
Skilled negotiator adept at managing complex negotiations at management level with both external and internal stakeholders
Expertise in logistics processes and regulatory requirements.
Project and Change management experience with strong leadership and team development
In depth understanding of external environment & supplier relationship models.
Exceptional communication and influencing skills across internal GSK teams and external suppliers globally
Understanding business value, business priorities, and implementation risks
Demonstrated success in leading projects to meet and improve the needs of business.
Ability to operate and influence across all business units and across multiple disciplines
Experience managing the delivery of large projects and with end-to-end service/operations management
Strong analytical, written and verbal communications, and influencing skills
Demonstrated ability to effectively use negotiation and conflict resolution skills
