Job description:
The Laboratories Directorate requires knowledge in the decommissioning of high-throughput diagnostic laboratories as well as activities associated with laboratory equipment repurposing. The post holder will have the specialist pathology laboratory knowledge and experience as well as a strong project and programme management background. They will run a team delivering the repurposing of government owned laboratory equipment used across the Covid PCR network to assist the development of capability and deliver value for money.
Responsibilities include:
- Direct management of team members that are likely to be a mix of consultants, contractors and Civil Servants.
- Stakeholder engagement and reporting with CPMO, Commercial, Finance and Legal departments.
- Supporting laboratory strategy and planning.
- Business owner for business cases related to the projects and functions mentioned above.
- Managing supplier relationships.
- Maintain a close relationship with the team responsible for the repurposing of reagents and operational supplies.

Significant experience in pathology laboratory environment.
Significant experience in laboratory design, improvement and management.
Experience of stakeholder engagement, especially building relationships stakeholders, both internally and externally.
Experience in public sector governance and approvals processes.
Experience of managing a complex project.
Experience of building and maintaining supplier relationships across a variety of different organisations.
