Mechanical Engineer - Hybrid - Bristol - 12 Month Contract - £50 - £63 per hour (Inside IR35) - SC Cleared

Our client is one of the largest providers of engineering and technical services to the UK defence market. They are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join their team on a 12-month contract basis. You will need to be onsite with the customer 2 - 3 days per week in Bristol and you may be required to travel to Plymouth for meetings.

You will deliver mechanical handling engineering work packages in line with scope, quality, schedule, and cost. The ideal Candidate will be a Chartered Engineer with experience in the design of cranes in a Nuclear Regulated environment.

The Key Responsibilities of a Mechanical Engineer:

  • Lead and manage one or more technical design packages to agreed standards, schedule and budget.
  • Manage designer performance and make appropriate technical management responses
  • Provide Subject Matter Expert advice as required
  • Plan for effective project implementation
  • Ensure effective Quality Management Arrangements are implemented
  • Operate and deliver through compliance with the clients Management System and Technical Manual
  • Document and maintain processes and activities
  • Ensure effective integration between design elements and work

Below is a list of Key Skills required for the Mechanical Engineer, however you will not be expected to have everything:

  • Chartered Engineer, registered with Engineering Council.
  • Experience in the design of cranes in a Nuclear Regulated environment
  • Proven experience in substantiation
  • Knowledge of lifting techniques and processes
  • Experience in control and protection systems (including SIL rated)
  • Awareness of seismic analysis of mechanical handling systems
  • Experience of working in BIM environments
