Windows Engineer (DFS/File Clustering)

6 months' contract initially

North-West England

£170 - £200 per day

A Higher Education institution in the North-West is currently looking to recruit for a Windows engineer (MCSE/MCIPT) with experience of DFS/file clustering in a large scale production environment.

The successful candidate will be project focused delivering 2 key aspects:

  • Work with the existing team of 4 in developing, testing and migrating CIFs shares from a NetApp storage platform to a block storage Windows 2012R2 scalable, high available, fault tolerant file system


  • Migrate up to 60 Windows 2003 servers to Windows 2008R2 and Windows 2012R2 servers. Working with the technology/application leads to ensure we deliver the front of house application on an upgraded Operating system.


  • They will require no application specific knowledge but must have good communication skills to engage with the application service owners and probably 3rd parties to ensure the right environment is provided for the application to be upgraded.

    They will be working in a virtual environment estate of over 500 servers. NetApp/EMC storage, Cisco UCS blades

    They will need experience of creating servers in a VMWare environment.
