Next Ventures are currently exceuting a search for an experienced SQL Server DBA.
Overview
In this role you will be providing support and delivery of new and existing database services to our clients business, in accordance with our business and IT strategy.
Your responsibilities and duties in this position will include but are not limited to the following:
Responsible for the technical delivery of database services as defined and measured by the Technology Management teams, and Architecture team to understand business priorities leading to developing services which meet the overall needs of the business and IT strategy.
Providing monitoring, optimisation, tuning, capacity planning, testing and maintenance of designated services and provide and maintain IT disaster recovery plans and services in accordance with current business and IT policies and standards.
Support, administer and troubleshoot technologies including SQL Server 2005, 2008R2 and 2012 including:
- Building highly available and resilient SQL Server solutions
- Source control and release/configuration management.
- Monitoring including SCOM
- Programming with Scripting languages including Powershell
Experience/competencies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong team player and problem solver
- Ability to take ownership of problems and see them through to completion
- Ability to communicate in a high-pressure environment
Industry standard certifications
- Excellent vendor management and supplier relationship skills
- Good familiarity with the ITIL framework
- Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams with a focus on delivery in a rapidly changing environment
- Ability to work cross functionally to meet local and corporate goals.
Demonstrable expertise in managing:
SQL Server 2005, 2008R2 and 2012
- SQL Server 2012 Always on technology including Availability Groups and Windows Multi-subnet clustering
- Business Intelligence (BI) platforms including SSIS, SSAS and SSRS
- Database Modelling and consolidation
- Database replication services
Detailed knowledge of:
Industry standard databases
- Security best practices including PCI regulations
Nice to have:
Proven ability in a similar role in a mission critical environment
Good understanding of Oracle RDBMS
